Adoption Day

Today we gained 2 new members to our family. Well... not really.

These girls were sent to us two and a half years ago and God intended that they stay with us from then on. Good thing He knows what He is doing because I have certainly had my doubts over the past couple years.

The ceremony was quick. It took about 10-15 minutes for the judge to sign the papers and congratulate us all. Brittany was very happy that her name was officially Beach. Roberta couldn't wait to go out to eat and the rest of us were just tired from the late night we had on Wednesday.

I trust what God has planned for our wonderful family of 7. I trust that these girls are exactly where they are supposed to be and that I somehow have enough wisdom to help them push past all the pain that old life of theirs held them in.

They are amazing kids and now they get to grow up together in a safe home full of laughter, love and most importantly... God's grace.

Tired but not weary

We signed papers today to finalize the adoption of Roberta and Brittany. I was so distracted by everything going on in my day that I didn't have a chance to feel the full weight of what took place today. It is almost 2 in the morning and I am feeling it now. I am feeling a new fear creep up on me. One that points its finger at me and charges me with the assured failure in parenting these already broken kids. I don't know what the future holds for my ever growing family. I do know that I want to be whoever I am supposed to be so that I can raise these kids up to be whoever they are supposed to be.

How do I balance this life. So many directions need my feet headed towards them and I still only have two. It seems I am constantly letting someone down or having to rearrange schedules and change this or that. One day I will get a good hold on all of this... one day!

A new start

I decided to start a family blog today. The adoption of our three foster children will soon be final and I thought this would be a great way to start logging all of our adventures as the Beach 7. Let's just see how faithful to this new endeavor I will truly be...
